Early Years Foundation Stage Assessment
At the end of Reception all children will be assessed using the Foundation Stage Profile. Your child’s teacher will keep you updated on your child’s progress and how you can support them.
Reading - Believe Avhieve Suceed
Each week your child will receive a phonics decodable reading book.
It is so important that your child brings their book bag to school every day.
Please also check DOJO regularly for letters and key messages.
Reading is so important and we want to help you, to help your children develop a life-long love of books.
Try and support your child and help them as much as possible.
The following tips should help make reading less stressful, and help your child feel like they are a successful reader...
1. Before you start reading a new book, tell them the title and look at the pictures on page.
2. Talk about what might happen in the story.
3. When you are ready to start reading, ignore tiny mistakes that still make sense in the sentence.
4. Prompt your child to look at the first sound and think about what words starting with that letter would make sense in the next sentence.
5. Re-read book lots of times to build your child's confidence. don't change them everyday!
Your child will also be bringing a Phonics home learning book home. This is a vital tool which will help your child learn to read and write. Please spend some time (at least 5 minutes 3-4 times a week) looking at your child’s new sounds, helping them to recognise them, write them and blend them with other sounds to read words.
Thank you so much for your support with your child’s learning 😊
Behaviour
At Village we have a simple set of values that ensures clarity for all. Everyone in the school community is expected to respect and follow these values. The children are reminded of the values frequently.
Dojo
Across all classes and year groups, we use ClassDojo to share the most up-to-date information including photos and videos of our learning, and resources for you to support at home. You can also direct message your child's class teacher to help maintain strong home-school links.
Dojo points are earned towards a whole-class reward ensuring that every child's contribution is recognised as helping a common goal.
